A Society dedicated to the memory & legacy of Major General Gilbert Motier, Marquis de Lafayette. Est 1932 The American Friends of Lafayette (AFL) is an historical and patriotic society in honor of Lafayette The Primary Exempt Purpose of The American Friends of Lafayette (AFL) is to educate the public about the life and career of General Lafayette through educational programs, publications, and lectures. The AFL was founded in 1932, and since that time has published nine scholarly pamplets. In addition, the AFL publishes the Gazette of the American Friends of Lafayette semi-annually, in which is found both scholarly commentary and reports of the various events conducted by the AFL and other Lafayette societies.
