Gardens honor Thomas Jefferson as the patron Saint of United States’ Agriculture and who the City of Jefferson, Iowa is named. TJG educates visitors about the history of Thomas Jefferson and his role in writing the Declaration of Independence, the Louisiana Purchase, The Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the development of agriculture in Greene County, Iowa. Seasonal horticulture and historical workshops are offered at The Education and Welcome Center.
