New Jersey Surplus Lines Insurance Guaranty Fund
NJSLIGF WAS CREATED BY NJSA 17:22-6.70 ET SEQ. THIS STATUTE ESTABLISHES A MECHANISM FOR THE PAYMENT OF "COVERED CLAIMS" OF INSOLVENT SURPLUS LINES INSURANCE COMPANIES. IT HAS BEEN FUNDED THROUGH A ONE-TIME ASSESSMENT OF ELIGIBLE SURPLUS LINES INSURERS THROUGH JULY 21, 2011, AS WELL AS A SURCHARGE ON POLICY PREMIUMS, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ACTIVATED SINCE AUGUST 1993.
