7 Pregnant moms saved from the kill shelter: Okay, big news to share, and lets talk about the reality of chances. Mama and I had a long discussion about the moms and moms to be here on the ranch. In a normal rescue, feral pups, anti social pups and skittish pups are always on a time clock. Maybe not today or 12 months from now, but they are on a time clock. Not all, but most rescues cannot afford to have unadoptable dogs in their rescue. The reason for that, they do take up spots that other dogs will never have a chance getting because it's taken by an unadoptable dog. That puts pressure on anyone that needs to make room for another rescue. Today mama was on mommy duty while I went to pick up Matteo aka Matty now. While no one bit her, she realized they are shy and some more than others. This makes the moms not as adoptable as a naturally friendly dog. Not all rescues can afford trainers and behaviorist and some have way too many dogs in boarding to make a difference in lives like the moms here. It's a reality for rescue. Medically caring for and feeding unadoptable dogs is expensive. We spend over $6,000. a month on food for our sanctuary. medically, we spend more than that to include medications for a lot of these dogs. So what's the difference? We are a sanctuary, and so we know we are getting dogs that are not desirable to others or are unadoptable for many reasons. I spoke with the rescuer of all these moms and asked for the moms to stay here. They need rehab and one on one training along with social skills. 6 out of 7 are unadoptable based on the publics expectations of adopting the perfect fit for their family. If a skittish dog bites, it's the end of the road for most of them. What are the chances this could happen with all these moms? Very high. The schnauzer mom, if we had her when the babies were born, the babies would not be so skittish. They learn from the moms. This is why it's so important that the moms accept us and are friendly with us while the babies grow and thrive. Our interactions with the moms, that's the babies first influence about human contact. Sharing this and speaking from years of experience, the moms will stay for rehab and Painted Paws will try and find them a forever home. Unless the babies are special or tagged by a veteran in need, they will move on to a rescue that adopts to the public. So what is Mama and Papa's challenge? Funding the moms and their ranch ticket for as long as they need. Spay and neuters, medical care that includes dentals, OMG, some of those sweet kisses have a sour punch to them, lol. Each baby born needs a sponsor. That is $75 for their spay and neuter. Potty pads long term. Each box is $50 for 3x's the amount of potty pads that we get from amazon or walmart and are better pads for the dogs. That's so we don't have runners. Potty training is going to take longer with these adults that are used to peeing in their beds as a toilet and are shy or skittish. So, to buy bulk potty pads, we'll need at least 10 boxes. Moms will need to be altered through our vet to prevent any running and biting strangers. The avg cost for the moms through our vet is approx $650 per adult with special consideration. This includes their dental at the same time. Sponsor a baby for $75, we have three from the tan mommy that need a sponsor and all new ones will need sponsors as they are born and thrive. Moms and potty pads come to $5,050 Babies, that will be an ongoing sponsorship as babies are born. What is the goal? To save them all and give the moms a long term plan for their future. PS: This little choc gal was tagged by us as a Painted Paws visiting ambassador. She is the oldest in this group of moms. She has all the qualities we look for, for visiting canines. She will need her cherry eye removed too. Can we make this happen? Can we save them all? I think we can. They deserve their chance for a happy future too. Match challengers encouraged to contact us for a match. All you need to do is message Sara Warrick with your match amount. Can be whatever you want it to be. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5AAKTZZBU2VBW (fb)

We have a very special rescue. Mama was brought in as a stray, babies are special needs. One is over developing, the other cannot walk or stand and is not developing. Mama will need medical care, babies will need special medical care. Outside the one unable to walk or stand and is not developing, the other has an overdevelopment of teeth. In cases like this, most babies can be saved. We said yes to this little family. They went into foster care with a partner rescue and will be transported to us. They are arriving on Easter Sunday. Outside of the normal X-rays, and MRI, they will need neurological and special dental veterinarians. Looks like the Easter bunny is bringing us a special basket this year. Will you help us provide them with a forever special home? They did have a rescue tag until they were a special family in need. Understandable. Now they need a place like ours. One that doesn't need to the space for adoptable pups. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5AAKTZZBU2VBW (fb)
