For over 50 summers, the Community of Writers has brought together poets, prose writers, and screenwriters for workshops and lectures Celebrating over Fifty Years of summer Writing Workshops in the High Sierra, now, year-round & online The mission of the Community of Writers, established in 1970, is to assist talented writers, with diverse cultural perspectives, to achieve their goals in the genres they pursue. Through the interplay of professionals, established writers and talented participants in a community atmosphere, fiction writers are assisted in their arduous journey from writer to author, and poets to achieve a resonant framework for their collected words.

Join us on June 25th for an unforgettable evening of poetry live in the California Sierra Nevada, and streamed online from the comfort of your home. Our annual Benefit Poetry Reading will feature poems from our 2025 Poetry Staff: Anthony Cody, Forrest Gander, Robert Hass, Brenda Hillman, Jane Miller, Gregory Pardlo and Evie Shockley. This event is free with a recommended donation of $25.
