Marconi Foundation for Kids
Overview
The Marconi Foundation for Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Southern California. Established in 1994 by Dick and John Marconi, the foundation operates the Marconi Automotive Museum, which showcases a collection of historical cars and related memorabilia. The museum serves as a tool to generate funds for charitable purposes, primarily supporting local children's charities.
Mission
The foundation's mission is to raise awareness and funds for organizations that serve children in need across Southern California. By leveraging the Marconi Automotive Museum, the foundation supports a variety of children’s charities, including Olive Crest, Orange County Rescue Mission, Covenant House California, and KidWorks, among others. The foundation aims to raise one million dollars annually for these causes.
Community Outreach Programs
The foundation engages in several community outreach programs:
- Fight Night: An annual fundraising event featuring world-class boxing and kickboxing, where proceeds are split with another local at-risk children charity.
- Open House: A free event open to the public, offering live music, food trucks, and raffles.
- Sleep Out: Participates in a fundraiser for Covenant House’s homeless youth programs by sleeping out on the streets in November.
- Toy Drive: Collects toys for local children charities during the holiday season.
Financials
The Marconi Foundation for Kids is known for its strong financial management, with significant portions of its income allocated directly to its programs. Donations to the organization are tax-deductible. The foundation's financial statements are publicly available through its Form 990 submissions.
Governance and Ratings
While the foundation is noted for its effective use of funds towards its mission, it has received a two-star rating from Charity Navigator due to certain governance weaknesses, including the lack of a whistleblower policy and documented board meeting minutes. However, it maintains strong accountability and financial practices.
Impact
The Marconi Foundation for Kids positively impacts underprivileged children by providing them with educational opportunities and experiences through the Marconi Automotive Museum. By combining a love for automotive history with charitable work, the foundation makes a difference in the lives of many children in its community.

It is #MoparMonday and we are in the Race Shop today with one of our favorite Mopars in our collection — the 1971 “Sassy Grass” Green Plymouth Cuda 340! We recently noticed an oil leak that was progressively getting worse. Upon initial observation based on the location of the leak and the time since its last service, we suspected it to be coming from the rear main seal. After further evaluation, raising the car up and removing the necessary parts required to access the rear main seal, it was apparent that that was in fact where the leak was coming from. We will now be cleaning it up, replacing it, and getting out this Mopar back in working order! Fun Fact: This ‘Cuda was a surprise Christmas present from Co-Founder, John Marconi to his wife Michelle in 2009. However, it happened to have burnt valves at the time. So John went ahead and wrapped the car with a huge bow, alongside a brand-new motor ready for install. John and his son Vince, then decided they could pull off a full motor swap before Christmas dinner that evening! We now call it her “Grocery Getter,” and in 2018, it was even featured in an issue of Mopar Muscle Magazine. The rest is history, and this iconic #Mopar now resides amongst our collection here at The Marconi Automotive Museum & Foundation for Kids. Come by and check it out! 🕘 Tues-Sat, 9AM - 4PM ☎️ (714) 258-3001 *Please check our website for closure dates, link in bio* #PlymouthBaracuda340 #AutomotiveMuseum #TustinCalifornia #SouthernCalifornia #OrangeCounty #NonprofitFoundation #MuscleCar #MuscleCars #MuscleCarOwners #MuscleCarLover #MuscleCarLovers #MuscleCarCommunity #Mopar #moparnation #moparperformance #AmericanMuscleCars #MuscleCarsDaily #PlymouthCuda #moparworld #mopardaily (fb)
