Palisades Perspectives: Fire Station 23 On January 7, 2025, the crew at LAFD Fire Station 23 in Pacific Palisades faced the most devastating fire of their careers. For 48 consecutive hours, they gave their all to protect their community — kicking down doors, tearing through walls, and risking their lives to stop the flames when they could. But the destruction left behind wasn’t just physical — it left a lasting impact on the hearts of the firefighters and their neighbors. Since then, the crew has helped people sift through debris, open safes, and recover whatever memories they can. “We’ve been here for so many years,” Firefighter Robert Appleford said. “These people are our neighbors.
