World No Tobacco Day, observed annually on May 31, was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and to promote policies that reduce tobacco consumption worldwide. In recognition of this important day, second-grade students from the River Valley School District participated in a No Smoking/No Vaping poster contest. The winning posters were selected by members of the Tobacco Resistance Unit (TRU) at the middle school—a youth-led organization dedicated to educating peers about the dangers of tobacco and vaping. This collaboration between elementary and middle school students not only highlighted the creativity and awareness of our young learners but also fostered meaningful peer-to-peer advocacy.
