Nor-Gwyn Baseball Inc

Nor-Gwyn Baseball Inc is a nonprofit organization based in North Wales, Pennsylvania. It is an independent, community-based, all-volunteer organization that evolved from three predecessor organizations in 1986, with a history dating back to the early 1950s.

History

Nor-Gwyn Baseball Inc was formed from the merging of three youth baseball organizations: the North Wales American Legion Baseball, Gwyn-Nor Youth Baseball League, and the Upper Gwynedd-North Wales Baseball Association. These predecessor organizations provided different levels of baseball opportunities for various age groups. The North Wales American Legion Baseball, established in 1949, was initially for older teenagers. The Gwyn-Nor Youth Baseball League, formed in the 1960s, focused on providing instructional and competitive baseball for younger children. The Upper Gwynedd-North Wales Baseball Association was instrumental in developing facilities for local baseball teams.

Programs

Nor-Gwyn Baseball Inc offers a variety of programs for different age groups and skill levels:

• Rookie League: Designed for 7 and 8-year-olds, typically using a coach-pitch format, emphasizing fundamental skills development.
• Minor League: Suitable for 9 and 10-year-olds, and inexperienced 11 and 12-year-olds, introducing pitching and base stealing.
• Major League 50/70: The most advanced level for 11 and 12-year-olds, played on a larger diamond with a focus on strategy and skill refinement.
• American Legion Baseball: For players aged 16 to 19, offering competitive baseball with high-level competition.

Governance

The organization is governed by a Board of Directors elected by its members. The day-to-day operations are managed by a group of officers and several committees appointed by the President.

Funding

Nor-Gwyn Baseball Inc relies on registration fees, fundraising projects, grants, and local business sponsorships for funding. The financial resources are utilized for uniforms, equipment, field maintenance, league fees, and administrative expenses.

Legacy

The organization has a strong community focus and supports youth development through sports. It also maintains a Hall of Fame and awards various scholarships and honors for coaching and volunteer contributions.
