Almost 100 years ago, following the completion of the Elks National Memorial, then-National President John F. Malley dreamt of building “a more stately mansion...with a dome so vast that it will cover the entire nation.” However, this mansion was not constructed of bricks and mortar—it was an idea. Malley envisioned a “mighty army for the service of mankind” who would “extend help freely and perform their deeds with a pleasant smile.” The Elks National Foundation is the realization of Malley’s dream. A registered 501(c)(3) public charity, the ENF is a network of Elks, donors, volunteers, and program recipients who are passionate about making meaningful differences in their communities. Today was the final day of the Chicago Elks Scholar Service Trip! They began the day at the Chicago Tool Library, a nonprofit that provides equitable access to tools, equipment, and information to allow all Chicagoans to learn, share, and create. In the afternoon, they visited Garfield Park Conservatory, then went to the Illinois Veterans’ Home at Chicago, where they played games and socialized with residents!
