Statement from Garden State Equality Education Fund on the Formation of Garden State Equality Workers United Today, Garden State Equality Education Fund proudly welcomes Garden State Equality Workers United as the official union that was elected in by 5 eligible staff who voted to unionize. We respect and honor the outcome of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election, which reflects the democratic process that offers the strongest legal protections for both employees and employers. As one of the nation’s leading LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, we believe that LGBTQ+ rights are workers’ rights. From the early days of the LGBTQ+ movement, including partnerships with organized labor in the fight for AIDS protections, fair workplaces, and marriage equality, our struggle for dignity, fairness, and justice has often been strengthened by solidarity with unions—values that also guide how we treat one another within our own organization. We look forward to entering into good-faith negotiations with Garden State Equality Workers United and continuing to foster a workplace where all employees feel supported, empowered, and heard.
