Helping People Improve Their Lives Through English Literacy Helping People Improve Their Lives Through English Literacy Become a Volunteer Enroll as a Student Support our Mission Founded in 1978 Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticuts mission is to transform the lives of learners and their families using studentcentered approaches that foster autonomy and promote language proficiency career development educational advancement citizenship and family literacy so that together we may contribute to a strong and equitable community. Our vision is a world where everyone has the literacy skills to thrive. Serving more than 300 people per year with the help of over 100 dedicated volunteers LVCC provides adults with instruction and encouragement to improve their skills in reading writing or speaking English so that they may achieve their work family and community goals. In addition our family literacy programs help parents to gain literacy skills to support their childrens success in school and to improve the financial sustainability of their families.
