"If something/someone presents in a way that brings discomfort or discontent...We tend to be quicker to judge and or discard..In most cases.. origin is not considered..The questions of when..why..and what are not factored in.. From this space we experience a mere portion of the whole..A missed opportunity in aligning with the light of another.. Sight "unseen"..yet again.." "Orisha's March", Yeshi TimKee, 10"x12", acrylic and chalk on paper Yeshi TimKee is originally from Brooklyn, NY, currently living in Catskill. With a background in Expressive Arts Therapies, Yeshi continues to bear witness to and marvel at the catharsis that engaging in various mediums of art offers up.. "To me 'Unseen light' suggests that there is a bittersweet beauty hidden within the shadows of our pain and suffering. In the words of Alex Grey, 'Every moment is an opportunity for Love and Transformation'." - Rip Van Wagoner "Recurring Nightmare", Rip Van Wagoner, 16"x20", acrylic on canvas Artist Rip Van Wagoner has lived most of his life in the village of Catskill and surrounding Hudson Valley. A respected area tattoo artist who got sober in his early twenties, his life was turned upside down when a head on collision while riding his motorcycle cost him his left leg above the knee and much of the mobility to his dominant left arm. The domino effect of this experience cost him almost everything. It was at this time that he made his first pilgrimage to The Chapel of the Sacred Mirrors, an art and psychedelic based church founded by Alex and Allison Grey. Soon Rip began painting again as a spiritual practice to rehabilitate his wounded body and soul. With the focus on sharing his experience, strength, and hope with others through his art, he hopes to help uplift our collective consciousness out of the void of despair and into an era of empowered strength and beauty. Rip's work is among those of several local artists now featured at CREATE gallery in "UNSEEN LIGHT: Spotlighting Stories Beyond Stigmas", an exhibit which invites visitors to broaden their awareness of invisible disabilities that are a part of the artists’ experiences. Don't miss this work in 'Unseen Light' , closing this Sunday. CREATE 398 Main St, Catskill, NY Gallery Hours Fri 4-7pm, Sat & Sun 11am-6pm (fb)
