History

Christ Our Redeemer AME Church was established in February 1990 as a mission project of the St. James AME Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Reverend Edmund E. Lowe, Sr. played a pivotal role in founding the church under the challenge from the Presiding Bishop, the Right Reverend Vinton R. Anderson, to expand the AME Church's presence in North St. Louis County. The first worship service took place on the first Sunday in April 1990.

Mission and Ministries

The church's mission is to serve the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of its community in line with the broader objectives of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. These objectives include preaching the gospel, serving the needy through various means such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, and providing care for the sick and marginalized members of society.

Dr. Richardson is noted for his dynamic preaching and teaching, focusing on the Doctrine and Discipline of the AME Church. His leadership emphasizes preparation of the congregation to be ambassadors for Christ.

As a part of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Christ Our Redeemer AME Church adheres to Wesleyan-Arminian theology and operates under an episcopal form of government. The AME Church was founded by Richard Allen in 1816 as a response to discrimination faced by black Methodists, and it has since grown into a global denomination with a strong presence in the United States.
