🕊️ Remembering WWII Veteran Anna Mae Robertson March 5, 1924 – May 30, 2025 Age 101 We honor the life and legacy of Anna Mae Robertson, a World War II veteran and trailblazer who proudly served in the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, part of the Women’s Army Corps of the U.S. Army. She was among the last surviving members of the historic “Six Triple Eight”—the only all-female, all-minority battalion deployed overseas during World War II. At just 19 years old, Ms. Robertson joined the Army, answering the call to serve her country. The 6888th faced the monumental task of clearing a massive backlog of mail—over 17 million pieces—in just three months, ensuring that U.S. troops in Europe received vital correspondence from loved ones back home. Their motto, “No Mail, Low Morale,” underscored the critical role they played in maintaining soldier morale during the war. The women of the 6888th completed their mission with distinction and dedication. Their contributions went unrecognized for decades, but recently were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors. Ms. Robertson’s story gained further recognition through the 2024 Netflix film The Six Triple Eight, directed by Tyler Perry and starring Kerry Washington, which brought the battalion’s legacy to a global audience. Beyond her military service, Anna Mae Robertson was a beloved mother of eight and a respected member of the Milwaukee community. She was named the Grand Marshal for Milwaukee’s 2025 Juneteenth Parade, a testament to her enduring impact and the esteem in which she was held. May she rest in peace and honor. 🇺🇸 #6888th #AnnaMaeRobertson #WWII #MilitaryHistory #Trailblazer #ArmyWomen #NeverForgotten #FAWMA #AWM #CMH #Army (fb)
