TO SUPPORT YOUTH LEAGUE PROGRAMS
Bloomingdale Butler Youth Club Inc
The Bloomingdale Butler Youth Club Inc, is a nonprofit organization based in New Jersey, serving the communities of Bloomingdale and Butler. It was formed following the merger of the Bloomingdale Chiefs and Butler Bulldogs youth football programs in 2010. The merger aimed to enhance participation and provide a superior sporting environment for local children, emphasizing values such as sportsmanship, respect, accountability, and teamwork[1].
History
Prior to the merger, youth football participation in both Bloomingdale and Butler had been declining. Following negotiations between delegates from both towns, the Bloomingdale Butler Youth Club (BBYC) was established, adopting the name Junior Bulldogs and aligning its colors with Butler High School. The organization operates as a feeder program for Butler High School[1].
Programs
BBYC offers a range of programs for children aged 4 to 15, including:
- Flag Football: An introductory program where young players learn fundamental football skills.
- Flex Football: A modern, limited-contact version of football designed to reduce tackling while maintaining the excitement of the game. It was one of the first such programs in New Jersey[2].
- Cheerleading: Provides training in cheering skills, starting with mascot cheer for younger participants[2].
Operations
The organization relies heavily on volunteer support, with approximately 100 volunteers contributing to its activities annually[5]. BBYC hosts various fundraising events and organizes community activities, including summer workouts and community engagement activities[2].
Scholarships
BBYC also provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have participated in the organization's programs for at least three seasons. The scholarships are awarded based on specific criteria, including academic performance and community involvement[2].
Facilities
Home games for BBYC teams are played at Memorial Field in Butler and Delazier Field in Bloomingdale[1].
