🏆Sierra Vista Middle School’s Science Olympiad team is national champions! 🏆 The team took home 1st place at the 41st Annual Science Olympiad National Tournament, breaking records with the lowest winning score at an in-person competition (93 points) and earning medals in 18 events! 🎉 Science Olympiad is one of the most prestigious competitions in science, technology, engineering, and math, featuring 120 middle and high school teams from across the nation. This year’s gold medals🏅were won in six different events, including Air Trajectory, Anatomy & Physiology, Codebusters, Metric Mastery, Optics and Reach for the Stars. 🌟 Additionally, Joelle Cheeseman of Northwood High earned a $10,000 Founders’ Scholarship from the Science Olympiad USA Foundation, awarded to outstanding seniors for exceptional achievements in Science Olympiad. 👏Congratulations to the Sierra Vista Science Olympiad team on their remarkable win and Joelle for her prestigious scholarship recognition! 🥳 IUSD was thrilled to join the Irvine Unified Council PTA’s Spirit of Community volunteer recognition event. From sweet treats 🍭🍫🍧 to sweet smiles, 😃 we’re so proud of our amazing PTA leaders, parent and family volunteers, administrators, teachers and staff who make a difference in the lives of our students. 🩷 The @iucpta also presented IUSD with a check that totaled the number of PTA volunteer hours for this school year, which if monitized would be more than $5 million. 🤩 IUSD Board Members Lauren Brooks, Jeff Kim, Katie McEwen, Connie Stone, and Cyril Yu, along with Superintendent Cassie Parham, District leadership and IUSD principals were on hand to thank all of the wonderful volunteers and honorees, who make our schools wonderful places!
