When Illia Kholiavin fled war-torn Ukraine in 2022, he left behind his home and medical school dreams. But after relocating to Poland and then Sparta, NJ, with his family, Illia learned English, enrolled in Rutgers and pressed on. This May, Illia graduated in the top 2% of Rutgers University—New Brunswick and Rutgers Health’s Class of 2025 with a degree in biochemistry! 🎓✨ On Friday, he joined 234 of his peers at a special dinner under President Jonathan Holloway’s tent, celebrating their induction into the prestigious Matthew Leydt Society.
