United State Deaf Curling Incorporated
United State Deaf Curling Incorporated (USDC) is a nonprofit organization established in 2007 to promote curling among deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes in the United States. Founded shortly after the 2007 Winter Deaflympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, the organization focuses on developing competitive opportunities, including national and international tournaments[4].
USDC eligibility requires athletes to have a hearing loss of at least 55 dB per tone average (at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hertz) in their better ear without hearing aids, adhering to the ISO 1969 Standard[1]. The organization coordinates participation in events such as the World Deaf Curling Championships and the Winter Deaflympics[1][2].
In 2025, USDC partnered with the USA Deaf Sports Federation (USADSF) and the Four Seasons Curling Club to host the World Deaf Curling Championships (WDCC) from April 22 to May 4[2][5]. The event represents a key initiative to expand competitive pathways for deaf curlers globally[2].
USDC operates under the leadership of Elizabeth Matthews and is headquartered in Minnesota[3]. It relies on donations and developmental programs to foster grassroots participation and elite-level training[2].
