At the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, the Grand Hospitaller Josef D. Blotz reaffirmed the Order of Malta’s commitment to caring for the most vulnerable. With 170,000 members, volunteers and staff, the Order is present in the Holy Land, Ukraine, and Myanmar—bringing medical aid, psychological trauma support, hope. “Modern by tradition. Before two hundred thousand faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, the Pontiff recalled the wounds of our time — hatred, violence, inequalities — urging the Church to be “leaven of communion and fraternity.” More than 150 official delegations were present on the basilica’s forecourt for the solemn Mass inaugurating the Petrine ministry.
