LEARN TO BE FOUNDATION

We bring free, 1-on-1, online tutoring to underserved youth around the United States. https://t.co/cy6lYajUEE ✨💻📚 If you google "online tutoring", dozens of results will appear from companies around the world, all charging somewhere between $30-50 per hour. This effectively prices out lower income families whose children could benefit from these services.  But not anymore.  Learn To Be brings low-cost or free, 1-on-1, online tutoring to K-12 underserved youth around the nation. We work with homeless youth, foster youth and students of otherwise struggling families.  Students are paired with volunteer tutors comprised of high school students, college students and young professionals. The two meet 1-2 times per week in a virtual classroom to work on math, reading, writing or science. To date, we’ve hosted over 34,000 sessions and provided nearly 17,000 hours of tutoring.  We live in a society where the gap between rich and poor grows larger everyday. Closing this gap means providing more high quality opportunities for families who need it most. We’re doing that at Learn To Be.  Learn To Be is fully sustained from the small hourly fees that some of our families contribute. Now we’re looking to scale our program to tens of thousands of students across the nation; to students like Elliott, who joined our program recently and whose mother had this to say: “I do believe there is a direct connection between tutoring and his improvements. Not only did I get an email from his counselor but also from his math teacher. The teacher stated that my son is actually participating in class discussions and answering questions aloud. This is a 100% turn around. Thank you for starting a program like this, it’s been a long hard road for my son and his struggles are my struggles. So his triumphs bring me joy in ways I can’t explain. I’m so glad I found Learn To Be.” We’re not offering any quick fixes or grand solutions. Just a push towards an ideal: Individualized attention for every student who needs it.
