The typical adult entering The Literacy Council's programs left school in the 10th grade but has the reading skills of a third grade student. The Literacy Council offers the only literacy instruction appropriate for the adults and their families in Boone, Winnebago, and northeast Ogle counties who are in this situation. Our mission: The Literacy Council exists to strengthen communities by providing literacy instruction to individuals and families.
