The museum houses the City of McKeesport's first schoolhouse, which has been relocated from five previous sites. Additional exhibits include an Industry Wing featuring a scale model of the U.S. Steel National Tube Works, church collections, and tributes to notable local figures such as Helen Richey.

The center strives for inclusivity by hosting events and programs that involve minority communities, including African Americans, American Indians, and LGBTQ+ groups. It provides free museum access and offers genealogical research resources, both in-person and through contracted services.
