Overview

The ACF Michigan Chef De Cuisine Association, also known as the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1970 by Master Chef Milos Cihelka. It is a chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) located in the heart of southeastern Michigan.

History

Master Chef Milos Cihelka was approached by Chef Jan Verdokschot from St. Louis to start a new chapter of the ACF in the Detroit area. Despite initial challenges, including union concerns, Cihelka successfully established the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association. The association was formally created after Cihelka engaged with Roger Foster, the local union chief, and secured his support.

Mission and Goals

The ACF Michigan Chef De Cuisine Association operates with several key goals:

• Culinary Education: The association supports culinary education through programs such as the ACF Apprenticeship at Oakland Community College. This program has been recognized nationally for its excellence.
