Family Focused Treatment Association

The Family Focused Treatment Association (FFTA) is a leading nonprofit organization in North America, dedicated to advancing best practices and advocating for policies that support families in their care and treatment of children. Established with roots in treatment foster care dating back to the 1980s, FFTA has evolved into a comprehensive advocate for various child and family services across North America.

Mission and Vision

FFTA's mission is centered on promoting effective methods for serving families, particularly through Treatment Family Care, which is seen as a vital resource in the continuum of child and family well-being. The organization's vision aims to create more supportive communities where those who care for families can thrive, leveraging collective knowledge, proven solutions, innovation, and inclusion to advance family wellness.

Structure and Membership

FFTA comprises nearly 500 member organizations, including both public and private agencies across 47 states in the United States and multiple provinces in Canada, as well as international members from Australia, Bermuda, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. These member organizations deliver a wide range of services, including family preservation, foster care, adoption, kinship care, and in-home mental health services. FFTA also supports 24 state chapters across the U.S., integrating leadership and best practices into state child and family services systems.

Activities and Resources

FFTA offers various resources, training, and support to health and human service organizations. It organizes conferences, workshops, and webinars to disseminate knowledge and best practices. The organization also publishes documents and guidelines to further define and enhance Treatment Family Care and related services.

Financial Status

As a 501(c)(3) organization, FFTA relies on contributions, program services, and other revenues to support its activities. Donations to FFTA are tax-deductible, reflecting its charitable status focused on educational and child welfare purposes. Financial data indicates that contributions and program services are significant sources of revenue, with the organization maintaining a substantial asset base.

Impact and Legacy

FFTA's impact extends through its advocacy for policies supporting family care and treatment, while its legacy in promoting standards in Treatment Foster Care has shaped the field's understanding of effective family services. By uplifting the voices of children and families served by its members, FFTA continues to play a pivotal role in North America's child welfare and behavioral health sectors.
