For 32 years, Kimberly Lawless has been a pillar at Ochsner Health, spending the last two decades as a clinic supervisor across multiple clinics, including Ochsner Health Center - Mid-City Family Center & Dermatology and Ochsner Health Center - Tchoupitoulas. We’re proud to spotlight her for #NursesWeek. 💙 Kimberly’s passion for nursing shines through in every aspect of her work; whether she’s leading her team to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality care or ensuring that each patient feels valued and supported. Kimberly’s nursing journey began with her deep desire to help others. After joining Ochsner as a medical assistant, she was inspired by the nurses she worked alongside and encouraged by her leaders to pursue higher levels of care. “I realized that nursing would allow me to combine my passion of caring for others while positively impacting the lives of patients and their loved ones.” She said. “I find great purpose in my role by leading our team of professionals implementing Ochsner’s Core Values: Serve, Heal, Lead, Educate and Innovate,” she said. These principles guide her as she mentors her team and inspires future generations of nurses. Kimberly believes in lifelong learning and approaches every challenge with resilience and empathy, qualities that make her a true leader in building healthier communities. She credits much of her success to the guidance of two remarkable mentors at Ochsner: “Natalie Schneider, MSN, APRN, FNP-C and Elizabeth Fuselier-Ellis, DNP, APRN, FNP, FAANP, CRCHP, both whom I have worked with throughout my nursing career. Natalie and Elizabeth both believed in me; they encouraged me through some difficult times while I was actively working to achieve a higher level of nursing. I was inspired by their care deliverance, and their empathy to patients is unmatched!” She said. Their influence drives Kimberly’s own mission to encourage and uplift others in their nursing journeys, just as she was encouraged herself. Today, as Kimberly reflects on her career, she remains grateful to be part of an exceptional team dedicated to improving patients' lives. “The profession of nursing requires dedication. I love advocating for my patients and families, ensuring their healthcare needs are met. I am so grateful to work alongside an amazing group of individuals at Ochsner Health in my nursing role.” Her story is a testament to the power of compassion, resilience and the influence of those who see the greatness within us even when we can’t see it ourselves. “I hope to inspire the future nursing profession like my mentors inspired and believed in me.
