Gem City-Hilltop Community Development and Housing Inc.Mission StatementThe Gem City-Hilltop Community Development and Housing, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit company, was duly established in July 2009 exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. More specifically, its primary purpose is to assemble community-based resources to plan and develop decent, affordable housing for low and moderate income people within the community it serves. Gem City-Hilltop CDC will also serve to promote the awareness of, and to commemorate the community's diverse history through advocacy and business practices which will serve to honor, preserve, and restore through adaptive reuse whenever possible, the significant historical landmarks, structures, and historical sites within its target area. A major emphasis of its activities will be in uncovering the ‘hidden’ history of Dayton's communities.  It will strive to educate the general public about the need for, and the importance of the role of historic preservation in the context of community development.The initial targeted community is the Greater Miami Valley area including Dayton, OH, and its surrounding neighborhoods, and all the neighboring cities and townships within Montgomery County and Greene County, Ohio. The organization will also promote other community development efforts and support the target area through participation in the social and economic development of the communities and the region it serves. Gem City-Hilltop CDC will collaborate with other community-based non-profit and for-profit companies to develop real estate to fulfill its mission. This goal of collaboration will be partly achieved in the form of establishing limited partnerships and joint ventures which complement its primary mission.The organization will solicit individual donors, taxable entities, foundations, tax-exempt educational and local and/or regional governmental organizations, and other endowed entities for grants and gifts of cash, in-kind services, or personal property and real estate. The non-profit company will accept such donated monetary gifts, grants, services, or property for the furtherance of its stated mission.  Gem City-Hilltop CDC will aim to collaborate with other non-profits where it is rational, feasible, and mutually beneficial.  We also welcome volunteers who wish to support our mission.
