Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a devastating bill that would strip healthcare away from nearly 14 million Americans, including 8.6 million people who rely on Medicaid coverage. All to fund tax credits that primarily benefit the wealthy. The bill could also result in nearly 11 million people losing nutrition benefits through SNAP due to burdensome paperwork. These cuts are the largest in history to programs that are vital to people with mental health and substance use conditions. It is important to remember that THIS FIGHT IS NOT OVER! The bill now moves to the Senate and has to be reconciled with the House bill. We must continue to pressure the Senate, as they begin to revise the bill.
