Protect PreserveRestore Founded in 1997 by Captain Bill Sheehan Hackensack Riverkeeper works to protect preserve and restore the Hackensack River for the benefit of the people and wildlife that depend on it. Our Mission Hackensack Riverkeeper defends the Public Trust resources of the Hackensack River watershed through environmental action advocacy education and litigation. As a citizen steward for the watershed Hackensack Riverkeeper promotes responsible sustainable development and works to remediate centuries of pollution and associated environmental damage. On behalf of the people and wildlife that depend on the Hackensack River we work to protect preserve and restore the fish and wildlife habitats that exist within the watershed.
