Ashland Community Enterprises, doing business as Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine, is a nonprofit, community-owned organization run by an unpaid, volunteer board of directors. Since its inception in 1962 as a tourist attraction, the board of directors, employees and volunteers have striven to educate and inform visitors about the rich heritage of the anthracite coal mining industry. The most important goal is to provide our visitors with a safe and pleasurable experience. The Board of Directors also recognizes and strives to ensure that the continued success of the organization relies on the cooperation and dedication of its employees.
