Higher Hopes! was recently awarded a $2,500 grant by the Farm Bureau Insurance Michigan Agent Charitable Fund to help support our weekend food kits for 1,002 Detroit Head Start students. Higher Hopes is one of ten organizations throughout the state to receive a Feeding the Future Grant from the ACF. Organizations are nominated by a local Farm Bureau Insurance agent and selected by a committee of ACF donors based on the need of the organization, population being served, and overall goal of the program. Farm Bureau Insurance agent Dave Mensch nominated Higher Hopes! for this grant for the fifth consecutive year. As Mensch says, “The founder of Higher Hopes!, Bill Birndorf, has been a customer of Farm Bureau for 45 years. He started Higher Hopes about a decade ago to give back to less fortunate communities in the metro Detroit area.
