We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC is an affiliate council of Girls on the Run International. We use the power of running to inspire girls to develop self-respect and value healthy lifestyles. Magee-Women's Hospital of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (the Hospital) enhances the health care and well-being of women, infants, and their families.  The mission of Girls on the Run is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

Girls on the Run at Magee Women's Hospital is a local chapter of the national nonprofit organization Girls on the Run International. The program is dedicated to empowering young girls in the western Pennsylvania area by enhancing their social, emotional, physical, and behavioral skills through running and other activities. Since its inception in western Pennsylvania in 2001, Girls on the Run at Magee Women's Hospital has served over 20,000 girls. Each year, approximately 1,500 girls participate in the program, which concludes with a celebratory 5K event. This event allows participants to demonstrate their accomplishments and feel a sense of fulfillment, while also fostering community engagement.
