The Foundation for Improving Patient Risk Assessment & Outcomes

Follow Message Edit

The Foundation for Improving Patient Outcomes (FFIPO) strives to improve the health of Americans by providing individualized patient education on risk reduction and medication adherence. In addition, the Foundation seeks to provide high quality education for physicians and healthcare teams that reduces medical errors and increases the clinical application of evidence-based standards of care. Central to all FFIPO initiatives are aggressive screening and identification of risk factors for disease, with appropriate behavioral and therapeutic interventions. Patient education, follow-up, and ongoing prevention efforts are vital to the FFIPO mission, including customized programs for ethnic populations with specific needs, and robust patient registries that maintain records and provide patient education and electronic reminders. FFIPO is also charged with providing ongoing relief efforts to patients in need during catastrophic emergencies and natural disasters.FFIPO content is based on extensive needs assessments that reveal gaps in patient risk factor assessment, patient medication adherence, and healthcare provider knowledge, competence, and performance in practice. Sources of needs assessments include surveys of physician and other healthcare professional audiences, searches of scientific literature, national specialty society guidelines, current standards for quality and safety, registry and government data, interviews with experts, patient surveys, disease forums, and blog summaries. Leading academicians, society guideline committee members, clinicians, national level researchers and other healthcare delivery experts participate in developing FFIPO initiatives.
