Neighborhood SHOPP is a non-profit multiservice agency, serving over 10,000 older adults, caregivers and other Bronx residents a year. Neighborhood SHOPP has been serving older adults since 1980 through a full range of community-based services and programs, promoting mutual aid within informal support systems and empowering older adults. NEIGHBORHOOD SELF HELP BY OLDER PERSONS PROJECT (SHOPP) IS A NON-PROFIT SOCIAL SERVICES AGENCY LOCATED IN THE BRONX SERVING MINORITY OLDER ADULTS. SHOPP'S MISSION IS BASED ON THE PHILOSOPHY OF SELF HELP. WE BELIEVE THAT OLDER PEOPLE ARE CAPABLE OF HELPING THEMSELVES AND HELPING OTHERS IMPROVE THEIR CAPACITY TO DEAL WITH PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL AND FINANCIAL CHALLENGES THEY FACE AS THEY AGE. SHOPP HAS SEVERAL COMPONENTS WHICH INCLUDE: THE SENIOR NETWORK GROUP WORK PROGRAM; THE SNAP CASE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM; THE HEALTHY LIVING/PROYECTO SALUD WELLNESS PROJECT; THE NEIGHBORHOOD SSHOPP CASA BORICUA SENIOR CENTER; THE SHOPP LAFAYETTE ESTATES NORC SUPPORTIVE SERVICES PILOT PROJECT; THE CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES.

Neighborhood SHOPP | Helping Older Adults Help Themselves SHOPPs Impact CONNECTEDNESS Our senior centers and group work programs have successfully served over 2800 seniors seeking group activities technology classes friendships trips and socialization. HEALTH PROMOTION SHOPP engages 1100 seniors in various educational health wellness classes. SAFETY Weve represented educated and consulted on cases related to elder abuse evictions and housing rights scams benefits and entitlements to over 1700 seniors. REDUCING SOCIAL ISOLATION Weve provide over 3000 isolated Homebound Seniors with services and support including meals on wheels homecare and friendly visiting services.
