Todays post for second Bada Mangal , Which deity comes to your mind when you hear the word *Giridhar*? Most of us will think of our beloved Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is known to be Giridhar because he lifted the Govardan mountain to protect Brindavan residents from the wrath of Lord Indra. But Lord Hanuman is **also referred as Giridhar* *in the Bajrang Baan written by the hugest known devotee of Lord Hanuman, Shri Tulsidas Ji. The 11th Stanza of the Bajrang Baan says “jai giridhara jai jai sukha sāgara”. So let us understand what the word Giridhar stands for. *Giri* means mountain and *Dhar* means holding. As per Ramcharitmanas, Hanuman ji brought the entire mountain to provide the Sanjeevani booti for Lakshman Ji in order to save his life. Interestingly, in the Valmiki Ramayan, Lord Hanuman brought the mountain two times during the Yudha kand in order to revive Lord Ram and Lakshmanji . Hence He is also described as Giridhar, which means the one who held the mountain. Wishing you all a happy second Bada Mangal, and may Lord Hanuman clear all obstacles from your life. Jai Hanuman!! Today is the first day of the Hindu month of Jyestha. Today is also Bada Mangal, also known as Budhwa Mangal, which is a revered festival dedicated to Lord Hanuman, observed on every Tuesday during the Hindu month of Jyeshtha (May–June). In 2025, the festival falls on May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, and June 10. Bada Mangal commemorates Hanuman’s first meeting with Lord Rama and his burning of Lanka with his tail—both believed to have occurred on Tuesdays in Jyeshtha Budhwa means "old". In the Mahabharata, Hanuman meets Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, disguised as an old monkey, Hanuman tests Bhima's strength and pride. This encounter, believed to have occurred on a Tuesday in Jyeshtha month. Hence the name Budhwa Mangal. Worshiping Hanuman on these days brings relief from hardships and fulfills desires. It also instills virtues and provides protection from the evil. "TUM RAKSHAK KAHO KO DARNA" "SANKAT TE HANUMAN CHOODAVE" Celebrate these 5 auspicious Tuesdays by fasting, chanting the Hanuman Chalisa and The mantra "Om Hanumate Namah" which translates to "I bow to Lord Hanuman." Giving "Daan" of food and water further enhances this divine occasion. JAI SHRI RAM AND JAI HANUMAN!!! -Madhuri Motwani Sharma (fb)
