Jennings Terrace

Overview

Jennings Terrace is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing senior care services. Established in 1943, it aims to offer safe and affordable housing to seniors in a homelike environment, emphasizing respect and comfort for residents aged 50 and above.

History

The history of Jennings Terrace dates back to the transformation of a former educational institution into a senior residence during World War II. Initially part of the Jennings Seminary, which was renamed from Clark Seminary, the premises were repurposed in 1943 to cater to the growing need for senior housing. On July 5, 1943, Jennings Terrace welcomed its first residents. Over the years, it has faced challenges, including a significant fire in 1959, which led to a substantial rebuilding effort. The facility has continued to expand and modernize, with notable additions such as the Kemmerer Annex Nursing Center in 1985.

Mission and Services

Jennings Terrace operates with a mission to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of seniors, recognizing the dignity and uniqueness of each individual. The organization provides two main levels of care:

  • Skilled Nursing Services: These are designed to offer advanced medical care and support to residents with more complex needs.
  • Sheltered Care Services: This option allows residents to live independently with access to light nursing assistance as needed.

Financials and Recognition

Jennings Terrace is designated as a 501(c)(3) organization, making donations tax-deductible. The organization relies heavily on program services for revenue, with a significant portion also coming from contributions and sales of assets. Donations play a crucial role in supporting activities and enhancing the care environment for residents.

Impact and Community Engagement

Jennings Terrace is deeply involved in the local community and encourages volunteerism and in-kind donations to enrich the lives of its residents. The organization celebrates milestones such as its 80th anniversary, highlighting its enduring commitment to senior care.
