The flags that you see as you drive by the Heartworks House today stand as a memorial to all the men and women who sacrificed their lives so that we can feel the sun on our faces today and experience freedoms many places in the world only dream about. These same flags were first placed outside of Heartworks 10 years ago in honor of Marine Captain, Ford Shaw when he was killed during a helicopter training exercise off the coast of Florida. Ford was a Ridge High graduate who was inspired by our countries efforts following the terrorist attacks on September 11,2001. He attended the Navel Academy and upon graduating was commissioned in the US Marine Corp. He served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and we remain dedicated to keeping his memory alive, along with all the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us.
