Heartworks is a grassroots movement of women committed to replicating and sustaining the palpable kindness witnessed in the wake after September 11, 2001. Inspired by the healing that takes place through receiving and giving, we offer hope to people experiencing acute illness, injury or grief.

The flags that you see as you drive by the Heartworks House today stand as a memorial to all the men and women who sacrificed their lives so that we can feel the sun on our faces today and experience freedoms many places in the world only dream about. These same flags were first placed outside of Heartworks 10 years ago in honor of Marine Captain, Ford Shaw when he was killed during a helicopter training exercise off the coast of Florida. Ford was a Ridge High graduate who was inspired by our countries efforts following the terrorist attacks on September 11,2001.
