The article "A novel zinc complex for rubber vulcanization: Enhanced mechanical properties and reduced environmental impact through ZnO substitution" by Mitra Tavakoli, Parisa Peyzari, Fatemeh Tamaddon, and Bahar Zare-Banadkouki, published in the May 2025 issue of PES is the Editor's Choice for May 2025! This article articulated how the use of zinc dodecylsulphate as an activator can expedite vulcanization of rubber compounds with much lower zinc content compared to the industry standard zinc oxide. This novel activator also alleviates the concerns of zinc leaching from cured rubber compounds. (fb)
