On May 17, the International Day Against LGBTphobia, IPPF’s member association in Brussels & Wallonia, Belgium: the Fédération Laïque de Centres de Planning Familial – FLCPF invited its network of family planning clinics to raise the rainbow flag in solidarity with LGBTQI+ people. The centers responded with pride, flying the flag as a visible and powerful commitment to equality, inclusion, and health for all. Gestures like these continue to be essential to the mission of IPPF’s clinics and advocacy work, because they’re not just symbolic, they reflect the deep, ongoing commitment of our clinics to the rights and wellbeing of LGBTQI+ communities. But, what should have been a joyful expression of solidarity was marred by acts of hate. Two participating centers were targeted with anti-LGBTQI+ violence: one center’s window was smashed and its flag torn down, and another’s flag was stolen. These acts are a reminder that discrimination and violence against LGBTQI+ people is still a reality. They also reaffirm why our advocacy and service provision for LGBTQI+ communities must remain unwavering. Clinics run by IPPF’s Member Associations around the world work towards these commitments every day, providing care that is welcoming and open to all. We will not be intimidated. We will not be silenced. We will continue to center LGBTQI+ rights and health in all of our work: in education, in policy, and in care. #Belgium #LGBT #LGBTI #LGBTQI #IDAHOBIT #IDAHOBIT2025 (fb)

💥 “This time, neutrality didn’t protect us. As we saw with USAID, they came for us all.” In a world where SRHR is under siege, how we lead matters more than ever. In this powerful article, Mallah Tabot, IPPF Africa Region's SRHR Lead, challenges our sector to move beyond business-as-usual and embrace leadership that is bold and political. From unpredictable funding to ideological interference, we are all now navigating a volatile ecosystem. It’s time we stopped playing catch-up.
