The Struggles of Pritilata: A Story of Courage and Inspiration Pritilata Saha hails from Kaliganj in Jhenaidah district. Her life has been intertwined with struggles from a very young age. Her father passed away many years ago, and her mother, Sujata Saha, works as a laborer in a factory. Due to the family’s financial constraints, they were unable to afford the education of her elder sister, who was eventually married off. However, Pritilata is different. She is physically disabled and unable to walk, relying on a wheelchair for mobility. Despite this, her relentless passion for education and her talent have left everyone in awe. She excelled in her school years and dreams of pursuing higher education. Support from Ankur on the Path to Her Dreams In 2023, Chandan Saha, a student at BUET, brought Pritilata's struggles to the attention of Ankur, a voluntary organization. At that time, Pritilata had just completed her Intermediate exams and was eager to prepare for university admission tests. However, financial constraints prevented her from enrolling in any coaching centers. Susmita, a volunteer from Ankur, took up the case. Upon Chandan’s request, she engaged Sabbir, who is a resident of Jhenaidah, to verify the details. Sabbir, in turn, sent Pavel, a student at Dhaka University and an acquaintance, to visit Pritilata’s home. After verifying all the documents, Pavel enrolled Pritilata at Goodwill Coaching Center in Kaliganj by paying a fee of 3,000 BDT. Pritilata's Journey Towards Her Dreams Pritilata's mother, with her limited resources, managed to save enough money to enable her daughter to sit for a few university admission tests nearby. However, due to her physical limitations, she couldn’t travel far. Despite the challenges, Pritilata secured admission offers from Kushtia University and Gopalganj Science and Technology University. The Need for Support for Her Future Education Currently, it has become exceedingly difficult for Pritilata’s mother to manage her monthly expenses. With additional costs for accommodation and food required for Pritilata’s studies, the family is in dire need of financial support. Through Chandan Saha, Pritilata’s mother has applied for a monthly stipend from Ankur. If this courageous yet underprivileged girl receives some financial assistance, she can continue her education and eventually stand on her own feet. It is our responsibility to stand beside this talented young woman and help her achieve her dreams.
