The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Early Childhood Education Program at Rock Valley College invite the community to celebrate the Week of the Young Child from April 5-11. This annual event highlights the importance of early childhood education and the needs of young children and their families. The Week of the Young Child is an initiative sponsored by NAEYC, the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 60,000 members and a network of 51 affiliates. Rock Valley College is celebrating 60 YEARS! As part of that celebration, we're highlighting 60 individuals who went from graduate to employee. Spotlight #49: Ryan Tillmann, Coordinator of Student Loans, graduated from RVC in 2009. When asked, "Do you remember a mentor/professor that made a lasting impact on you?" Ryan shared: “Dr. Kanwal Prashar was a really great professor. He unfortunately passed away 3 years ago. I took his World Religions course back in the Spring 2008 semester and went on two of his World Religion field trips. I took his course because I thought that it would be a great elective since I was majoring in Psychology. Because of his class, personal stories, and his teaching style, I learned to be much more accepting and understanding of people with different opinions and beliefs.
