Uprooted in 2020 from Arrigo Park, the Columbus statue will return this October when it’s unveiled inside the new Chicago Museum of Italian Immigration, set to open on Taylor Street in the city’s Little Italy. The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans reached the resolution after a multi-year lawsuit against City Hall, following former Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s 2020 order to remove all three of Chicago's Columbus statues.
