🧠 As Mental Health Awareness Month wraps up, we’re honoring the women whose courage, advocacy, and compassion transformed how we understand and support mental well-being. 🕊 Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross – A psychiatrist and author who changed the way the world understands grief, end-of-life care, and the emotional needs of patients and families. 📰 Elizabeth Jane Cochran (aka Nellie Bly) – A fearless journalist whose undercover reporting exposed abuse in asylums and sparked real reform. 💬 Betty Ford – A First Lady who helped destigmatize addiction and mental health through courageous honesty and the founding of the Betty Ford Center. 🏥 Dorothea Dix – Led a 19th-century movement to create more humane mental health institutions across the U.S. 🌿 Eleanor Rosalynn Smith Carter – Brought mental health to the national conversation with empathy, vision, and tireless advocacy. These women paved the way for progress—through policy, advocacy, journalism, reform, and empathy. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #WomensHistory #Trailblazers #NWHF #EndTheStigma #LegacyOfCare #MentalHealthMatters (fb)

Congratulations to Dr. Antonia C. Novello and Jill S. Tietjen — winners and finalists in the 2025 American Legacy Book Awards for their memoir Duty Calls: Lessons Learned from an Unexpected Life of Service! 🏆✨ Dr. Novello, 1994 Hall inductee and the first Hispanic U.S. Surgeon General, and Jill Tietjen, former NWHF CEO and fierce advocate for women in leadership, share a powerful story of service, grit, and purpose. We were honored to welcome them to the Hall this past International Women’s Day, where they hosted a heartfelt talk and reception about their book. Duty Calls is more than a memoir; it's a testament to the strength and dedication of women who have paved the way for future generations. We are proud to honor their contributions. 👏 Join us in celebrating their incredible achievement and legacy! #DutyCalls #WomensHistory #LegacyMakers #NWHF #AmericanLegacyAwards #WomenInLeadership #Trailblazers (fb)
