TO ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD BY EMPOWERING THE PEOPLE OF GOD.

East-West Center for Missions Research and Development

The East-West Center for Missions Research and Development is a Christian nonprofit organization focused on advancing global missions. Established under the auspices of the Asia Missions Association, the organization aims to develop world-class leaders, conduct cutting-edge mission research, and publish relevant materials. It serves as a catalyst for the world mission movement in the 21st century, partnering with churches, missiological associations, mission structures, and theological seminaries.

History

The concept of the East-West Center for Missions Research and Development emerged during a consultation in Seoul in 1973, where leaders from churches and missions across fourteen Asian countries came together to form the Asia Missions Association. Initially entrusted to the Korea International Mission, the center was established to build upon the experience of Western missions and provide superior training for Asian missionaries. Between 1973 and 1999, over 2,000 individuals received training at the center, including missionaries and pastors from India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Korea.

Programs

The organization offers a range of programs, including:

  • Seminars and Forums: Providing platforms for sharing ideas and discussing mission strategies.
  • Publications: Producing bulletins and books on mission research.
  • Ministries: Engaging in missionary care, cyber counseling, and other support services.
  • Partnerships: Collaborating with diverse Christian organizations to enhance global missions.

In 2004, Dr. Timothy Kiho Park became the president of the organization and initiated efforts to revitalize and expand its services. The center has since incorporated new ministries such as WebLectures and Webinars, and is involved in projects like the Thai Mission Adventure.

Mission and Vision

The East-West Center for Missions Research and Development is dedicated to empowering individuals to further the Kingdom of God through comprehensive mission training and research. The organization continues to evolve, adapting to emerging needs in global missions while maintaining its core commitment to fostering effective Christian leadership worldwide.
