Sator Arts Foundation
The Sator Arts Foundation hopes to inspire new artistic projects that challenge or undermine the distinction between artist and audience, creator and consumer. The SAF does not favor any particular medium or mode of artistic production. Rather, we are willing to fund work in any medium or modality that fosters interactivity, prompts people to play together, and enlivens community bonds through creative exchange. In short, the SAF is interested in art that explores the link between performativity and emergence. In practical terms, the SAF intends its grants to assist individual artists and artistic collectives in the realization of specific projects. We expect to be able to see (hear, taste, smell, touch, or otherwise experience) the fruits of grant monies within twelve months of the grant being awarded. The SAF provides funding for the purchase of project-specific materials, tools, and services (examples of the last would be rental of a performance venue, or paying permit fees for an outdoor event). For this reason, we require both a timeline and detailed budget from all applicants.
