Sister Connection invests in the widows of Burundi, creating opportunities for financial independence Founded in equal partnership between a Burundian and an American, Sister Connection began as a small sponsorship program in 2004, offering direct aid to Burundian widows with a personal, self-help approach. Incorporated in 2006, are goals are shifting from relief to sustainable development as the economic prospects for widows and their children remain bleak. Sponsorship connections bring them healing from the past, but self-sustainability is our ultimate goal, offering hope for their futures. Our initiatives are planned and executed in-country, understanding the importance of patronizing the local economy.
