Advocating for women in the arts since 1972. In a world characterized by inequalities, A.I.R has been functioning as a space for women artists since 1972, developing a unique cooperative model through which scarce assets have been shared. As a feminist artist-run organization, with a self-directed governing body, A.I.R. is alternative to mainstream institutions and thrives on its network of active participants. Collaborations and partnerships with outside organizations and individuals ensure a platform informed by a diverse community. A.I.R. maintains a gallery space in Brooklyn, NY and exhibits the work of hundreds of women-identified and non-binary artists each year. Among those, the participants of our Fellowship Program which gives six emerging or underrepresented artists the opportunity to have their first NY solo exhibition.
