April is Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month. Team Telomere is raising awareness for Head and Neck Cancers in advocacy and support of our Telomere Biology Disorder (TBD) community. Studies have shown that those with TBDs are at increased risk for Head and Neck Cancers. For this reason, prevention strategies are crucial. Regular skin examinations, sun protection, and avoiding tanning beds are recommended measures to reduce risk, as outlined in the TBD Diagnosis and Management Guidelines.
