Metro East Community Chorale
The Metro East Community Chorale is a US nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the community through choral music. Established in 1992, the chorale has been performing in the Metro East area, fostering a sense of community and musical appreciation.
Mission and Purpose
The choir aims to provide a platform for those who love singing, fostering musical experiences that bring people together. It does not require auditions for membership but recommends some choral music experience for participants.
Repertoire
The Metro East Community Chorale's repertoire includes a diverse range of musical genres, such as:
- Choral and Classical Music: Performances often feature traditional choral pieces and classical compositions.
- Religious Music: This includes Gospel music and other faith-inspired works.
- Show Tunes and Patriotic Music: A selection of popular show tunes and patriotic songs are also performed.
- American Standards: The chorale incorporates well-known American standards into their concerts.
Performance Schedule
The chorale typically performs two concerts annually: one at Christmas and another in the Spring. These events are held at local churches within the community.
Leadership and History
The chorale has been led by various directors, with Stephen Wilson playing a significant role. He has been involved as a singer, guitarist, percussionist, and director since the late 1990s. Carol Brookshier has served as the accompanist since 2004, bringing extensive musical experience from her work with other regional choirs.
Funding
The organization relies on donations, freewill contributions, and support from local individuals and businesses to maintain its programs and performances.
Community Impact
By engaging in local performances and offering opportunities for community members to participate in choral singing, the Metro East Community Chorale contributes to the cultural and social fabric of the Metro East region.
