Michael Reese works to create equitable access to health solutions for all Chicagoans. For over 30 years, Michael Reese Health Trust has been focused on improving public health. Our core principle- that all Chicagoans should have equal access to health solutions- has never wavered. Health is more than being physically well. It's having a safe home free of violence, a secure place to live and a stable job to help pay the bills- all of which impact an individual's overall health. By prioritizing the areas of Domestic Violence, Homelessness and Health Workforce, Michael Reese works to address the root causes of issues that prevent individuals and communities from reaching and maintaining health. We honor our Jewish Legacy by investing in capacity building of Jewish-led organizations. We use our three tools- Advocacy, Grantmaking and incubation- to advance our priority areas.

We Are Michael Reese OUR PRIORITIES By prioritizing some of the most urgent health challenges facing our city we are addressing the root causes of health inequities. Michael Reese remains committed as always to honoring our Jewish legacy. We prevent and address the impact of domestic violence by supporting both survivors and those who cause harm to break the cycle of violence. We strive to integrate community health workers permanently into the health workforce leveraging their trusted expertise and lived experiences to enhance the health and wellbeing of Chicagoland communities.

Last month, Michael Reese staff— President and CEO Ameya Pawar and Chief Program Officer Blair Harvey—were joined by Board Members, Chair Mally Rutkoff and Vice Chair Judy Smith at the Jewish Funders Network Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference united individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing social and economic justice, offering a chance to learn, collaborate, and strengthen partnerships for positive change within and beyond the Jewish community. As we reflect on our own history and role in advancing social justice, the conference served as a reminder of the enduring importance of institutions like Michael Reese.
